Avionics

Potting (using epoxy to protect electronics) a data logger PCB directly to its box. This yielded a natural frequency that was too low.

Incorporating a seal, enclosure, and mounting legs for the data logger circuit. The SD card is still protected by epoxy potting.

At 200g of force, the maximum stress is only 13.1 MPa, compared to the yield stress of Aluminum 7075 of 503 MPa.

At 50g RMs of random vibration, the maximum stress is 30.7 MPa, still small compared to the yield stress of Aluminum 7075 of 503 MPa.

Added improved mounting features, and an o-ring for better sealing.

The final design, with separate seal screws from the mounting screws, a heat sink to cool the microchip, better mounting features, ribs and fillets.
